Foods High in Antioxidants Help Balance Stress

Infertility is stressful.  There is no denying it.  But there are many ways to manage the stress.  Many of which we’ve covered in earlier blog posts.  (Please check them out.)

Now we want to stress (no pun intended!) the importance of eating foods high in antioxidants.  Antioxidants are molecules that tame and neutralize free radicals – which cause harm to our health.  You are probably familiar with the effects of oxidation – a cut apple that turns brown once the air/oxygen comes in contact with it.  The same thing happens to our bodies.  Exposure to free radicals is always present but by increasing the level of antioxidants in our bodies, you can prevent the damage, and help your body overcome stress.

We recommend neutralizing fertility stress with foods high in antioxidant compounds like beta-carotene, vitamin C and vitamin E.  Here are some of our favorites:

  • sweet potatoes
  • spinach
  • cabbage
  • bell peppers
  • kale
  • cauliflower
  • broccoli
  • strawberries
  • almonds
  • dried apricots
  • asparagus
