Depending on each individual patient and their personal history, often times a single embryo transfer is the best option to hopefully achieve the goal of a healthy live birth and a good obstetrical outcome.
It is important to educate patients on the possible benefits of a single embryo transfer and the possible risks associated with the transfer of more than one embryo.
A study which looked at the obstetrical outcomes of cycles using fresh and frozen eggs and transferring one versus multiple embryos showed single embryo transfers were more likely to end in a healthy live birth. To read more see the link here
